Sacred Manner      February, 2002

It's hard-the asphalt
A layer hard to penetrate to the earth below
With this the man made
The superficial
                          The barriers
It's hard to walk in a sacred manner

Surrounded by a dizzying array
   Of prophets and Priest
            Saviors and shamans
                  Enlightened souls
                        Latter-day saints
It's Chi
It's Mana
It's Mo Jo! !
It's all energy

                             It's all good brother!
Where is the first Guy?
   Who gave the first lesson?

          Taught the first disciple?
                 Presented the first diploma?
Did they breathe with the same breath
Recycled throughout the millennia?

And if the Creator walked among us
Embracing us with light and love
Would we recognize?
        Would we believe?
                Would we lash out?

It's the great mystery In the ember of every soul
On the journey made in the temple of flesh
Afflicted with amnesia of which it came

Why is it such a mystery?
To look into your eves
Feel my skin next to yours
Exchange warmth
                                    LOVE

The bread is unleavened
The wine is bitter
The uji breath like fire
The OM long and low Recovering from the memory loss of whence I came
I WALK IN A SACRED MANNER
