Oreo

I feel earthy today
It always felt that way with her
Sweat, damp on the saddle blanket
There was something very natural
Riding her bareback
Crossing a stream
Running until the tears came out the corner of my eyes

I looked forward to feeding her
Touching her
There were times, I thought, I could feel her emotions
There were times we wrestled for control
Just to look at her, watch her movements
It was beauty, it was strength

                       It was part of us
                       We must never let go
