CCTV54 Annual Meeting of the Board & 2010 Elections 2/18/10

Address from Lori Laingor,
2009 Board Chair

I’m very proud of our accomplishments in 2009 as a board and as a station. We have tightened up our accounting system and started streaming on the internet. We kept our doors open with significantly more income from fundraising, underwriters and classes. We upgraded studio equipment, and added many new good producers and shows.

I thank all those who supported us: the Cities of Louisville, Lafayette, Superior and Erie, our station’s underwriters, board of directors, committees, producers, members, volunteers, and viewers. Thank you all for your many volunteer hours and commitment to independent media.

I would especially like to thank:

Zoe Monroe - for years of Web site design and mastering.

Bo Shaffer – for being our liaison with the Boulder Daily Camera.

Linda DiNoto – for directing videography classes partnered with BVSD managing studio schedules, field equipment and recruiting new producers and for training new CCTV producers and crews for years.

Leanette Ashcroft– for countless hours of studio work making sure our shows are programmed and broadcast, and for supporting us in so many ways.

Nina Cardillo – for being our Treasurer, tightening up our accounting system, negotiating our lease, and keeping us out of trouble.

J Bollinger – for years of dedication to the station, and directing our underwriter program.

Kathy Metzger – for years of service, running our silent auction, and superb camera work.

Joe Diamo – for keeping the peace & working on the Equipment Committee & Steinbaugh.

JVonD – for getting us on the internet & working on the Equipment Committee.

Frank Herman – for pulling it all together & teaching us Roberts Rules of Order.

Thank you to all Past Board and Committee members for your contributions.

We have done our very best to keep CCTV54, and independent media alive.

CCTV54 is Boulder County’s only Public Access TV channel. If we are to become sustainable as a community, it will most certainly start at the grassroots level, and be driven by the media. In this regard, CCTV54 is uniquely positioned to educate, entertain and to call our community to action. We are also one of the very few remaining sources of local news and events, with so many local newspapers closing their doors.
Boulder County is full of pioneers and visionaries of all ages who are eager to share their arts and ideas. With the appropriate resources, and pulling together as a team, CCTV54 can provide a platform for all citizens to communicate, collaborate and thrive.

Best of Luck to the new CCTV54 Board
Lori Laingor / 2009 Board Chair

"Fate of the Stallion"
 By Ron Hevener
Not since the popular stories of Walter Farley has an Arabian stallion burst onto the American book scene with such force. Based on the true story of an exotic, real-life Arabian stallion lost from the public limelight and the broken family who found him, "Fate of the Stallion" gained popularity among horse lovers in more than sixty countries and sold out its first printing. Filmed in Lancaster County and the surrounding Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the story quickly gained popularity among animal lovers internationally.

Featuring an original musical score by Barcelona-based composer David Giro' (Mystery of the Nile), and the title song recorded by Ron Hevener - "Never Let Me Go" - the 30 minute film gives viewers a peek at what it's like writing a novel about the inside workings of the horse show world and introduces the Arabian stallion, Selket Louchiano, who portrays the horse in the story. Mr. Hevener and Louchiano are currently making live personal appearances for the film around the country.

In Loving Memory of John Breaux
Photos and writing by Doug Grinberg

Greetings, As many Louisville/Lafayette residents probably know by now, Louisville's well-known and much-beloved bicyclist and recycler, John Breaux, was killed in a freak accident on Friday afternoon while he was picking up along US287 in Lafayette. (:-( In case you don't *think* you know him, John was the scruffy-looking fellow with the dark hair and beard, with bags of trash and recyclables hanging from the handlebars. (He received a mayoral proclamation in March 2005 for his work.) John was an institution, seen regularly at places like Chipotle, Starbucks, Albertson's, Safeway, Dairy Queen, Diamond Shamrock. John was *everywhere*, it might have seemed; some have joked about *how many* John Breauxs there were.
